Carly and Brian were originally planning a big wedding in their home state of Michigan. They decided that they really wanted to elope instead. This couple loves the outdoors, fishing, and adventure, so an Elopement in Denali, Alaska was the perfect choice!
I was thrilled when they contacted me to take their engagement photos and get to know them and also chat about all of their hopes and dreams for their private elopement in Denali, Alaska.
Elopement in Denali, Alaska
My husband and I rented a RV camper in Anchorage, Alaska, and drove the amazing drive up to the mountains of Denali, it is one of the most epic, amazing site I have ever seen! We chose to camp during our stay in Alaska as we found it easier to move around at our own pace and see more sites.
On the day of the wedding, we started out at the couples little cabin nearby to where I was staying. Carly and Brian had their final getting ready moments and then we moved to the back of the cabin which was on a little stream in the mountains, where they had their first look.
This was such a sweet time having their first moments with just us, such a small group, where they could just enjoy being together with no other distractions except for the sounds of the bubbling stream in the background.
After spending some times and taking some photos behind their cabin area, we drove down the highway to a spot that the couple had found, we had to hike a little ways off the main road to the spot where they would have their private ceremony. I am also ordained and can preform and legalize weddings and elopements, so we had a very intimate and quite time taking in the moments and the amazing views.
We then found a “rock” on the side of the mountain that overlooked the river and a waterfall, and this is the spot where the couple said their vows! A epic elopement in Denali National Park, Alaska in the mountains!
After they said “I do”, we drove to a nearby restaurant and had a delicious meal at the 49th State Brewing before we went out hiking for the remainder of our time together. We saw many moose, beautiful views, and other wildlife.
Signing the marriage license was a little tricky as the winds really picked up, however we had a ton of fun and they made it legal, with out the paperwork blowing away!
